Sutton & Kingston are consulting on parking on Green Lane

Kingston and Sutton councils have finally woken up to the mayhem that is parking on Green Lane. The councils are consulting on what to do.

Here's the Surrey Comet talking about it, and here's a brochure that Sutton Council have produced

So - what can we do? Well - we need to persuade the local councillors to both back and fund the conversion of the land behind the Bowls Green and the Tennis Courts into parking for the club! Think of the difference that would make both to us and to our neighbours!

The consultation ends next Friday March 12th and there will not be a full public consultation! - so this is our only chance! So it's really important that you do your bit!

What can you do specifically?

1. Fill in this questionnaire online

2. Contact your local ward councillor - this is really important because it's the councillors that will bring the proposals forward to the council! You can find your local councillor here for Kingston, and here for Sutton. You may also want to contact Colin Hall - Sutton's Executive Member for Environment. See below for a sample letter you can send or eMail to them.

3. Make sure that you get down to the public Green Lane Primary School to see the proposals which will be displayed later on this month.

Dear Councillor {Your councillor’s surname}

I am a member of Worcester Park Athletic Club, {Senior / Junior} Cricket, using the club for {x} years.

As a regular user of WPAC one thing that would be of huge benefit to both the club and also the residents of local area if as part of the redevelopment you are proposing there could be consideration given to assisting WPAC enabling parking on the club’s land.  With some assistance as part of the redevelopment parking for WPAC would be a huge benefit to all members who are also primarily Worcester Park residents.

The amount and duration of commuter parking is an issue for any resident and member that would like to use WPAC or park in Green Lane and the surrounding area during the week.

As a club member I feel that this would also be supported by the local residents. The consultation ends next Friday, March 12th. I would be really grateful for you to ensure that my view is represented to those preparing the proposal.

{NOW ANYTHING YOU WANT TO SAY ON A PERSONAL LEVEL}

You will also receive communication from WPAC Committee on this matter on behalf of WPAC.

Yours sincerely
